Mi british friend Tracy sigue por Australia de paseo y me envio otro set de fotos de Perth, Freemantle, Scarborough y demas lugares por donde transita.
Tracy dixit:
Hi you peeps, popes and pikeys, picture it.........
The hostel i was staying in in Perth was as squeaky clean as the town and whilst thats nice, it was a bit clinical and should have been called the Moon hostel to reflect its atmosphere..... i had the urge to empty the bin out on the floor just to rebel! Cleanliness seems a bit of an obsession
round here in general, Perth is the only city i have seen where they wash all the streets with hoses after everything shuts, wouldn't surprise me if they blowdried them after!!
The transport is pukka with all the trains co ordinating perfectly with buses (who all have hydraulic ramps for disabled) to anywhere you wanna go (not to mention free buses doing circuits round town) so I went on the train to another town on sunday i randomly picked off the map called Hillarys boat harbour, and again it was very pretty and clean, with lots of wooden jettys, decking etc, tho just a little too contrived and perfect, then i walked 10km in a moment of madness to the next place called Scarborough.........ah ha, a less than perfect place, a non entity of a place actually. The walk was good tho as it followed the coast and beaches which i have to say are incredibly well looked after with regular changing rooms and bathrooms all the way
along them.
As i came to Fremantle a few times on the train i thought i might as well move there for a few days as its really lovely and a good access point for Rottnest Island, 30 mins ferry ride away (at an exhorbitant cost of 20quid, which would have bought me a 30hr luxury bus journey in SA with meals and entertainment!!). It reminded me a bit of Fraser island on the east coast as
it seems to be mostly sand based, its really beautiful tho with so many little soft white sand bays & torquiose sea, you can't count them all even tho the whole island is only 10km long! There are marsupials running around as common as cats and about the same size, called Quokka, they come right up to you and will quite happily look in your bag as they are looking for food,
and of course they are real cute but i hear its a bit of a sport to some neanderthal ozzie guys to use them as a football as they curl up in a ball when threatened and its known as Quokka soccer........oh gross!!!
